Bitara is the birthplace of Brahmajna Ma and where she spent the early period of her life marked by deep Sadhana on her innate identity. It is a place made holy by several landmarks such as a tree under which she meditated and a small lake where she she was bitten by a snake. These landmarks still exist today and are preserved by local devotees.
A Mandir in Brahmajna Ma's name was established in the year 1937. In 2008, the Mandir was renovated through the efforts of Nirban Math Trust, Deoghar. The Bitara Mandir is independently run by local group of devotees.
