Circumstances leading to the establishment of Nirban Math in Deoghar:
(from Brief Life Story and Teachings of BrahmaMoyee Ma)
Nirban Math in Deoghar was established by Shri Phani Bhusan Chattopadhyay in 1935 through a deed of land as a result of a dream wherein the Mother (Brahmajna Ma) requested him to establish a safe place for her devotees.
As it transpired, Shri Chattopadhyay (MABL, prior Principal of the Government Law College), had rented and had started living in the same house (in Wellington Town, Deoghar) where Mother had departed from her body, without prior knowledge of its special significance.
Shri Chattopadhyay was a generous and highly religious person. his wife had died a year after their marriage, and he had remained single thereafter. He used to spend his life in the company of pious people, religious discussions and reading of scriptures. One day he was dozing after lunch when he saw an exquisite young girl standing before him saying, "the ascetics are wondering around here and there, why don't you arrange some accommodation for them?". When he woke up, he started to wonder about what he had just seen in the dream. Next day, while resting after lunch, he again saw the vision of a woman, clad in white and radiant with a divine glow, telling him, "arrange some living accommodation for my sons. you have both the virtuous intent and means."
When this went on for the next few days, Shri Chattopadhyay, intrigued by the dream, started to inquire of the circumstances of the house and soon learnt of its special significance, that a great saint who had attained knowledge of the Brahma, had lived in the same house and attained final Samadhi there. He was shown a picture of Mother, immediately recognizing the picture as the face in his dreams. He started searching and was eventually able to locate the disciples of the Divine Mother, who were living elsewhere in Baidyanathdham, Deoghar.
He immediately set about to find a suitable place for worship and housing for the devotees. Within a few months the purchase of the land for the Math and construction of the buildings and a temple were accomplished. The temple was named Nirban Math.
This is what led to the establishment of Nirban Math on a piece of land near Dharwa River in Deoghar.
The circumstances leading to the establishment of the Trust is related below from the Deed document:

"This Trust Deed is executed, as the second daughter of Late Abhay Charan Chakraborty of village Bitara P.S. Katchua Dist. Tripura, Kadambini Devi became widow at the age of ten. After that she in isolation without the help of preaching of Guru or books, was able to able to overcome all doubts and agony and attained peace for ever through self actualization. On Bangabda 1341, 19th Kartik , Monday Krishna Chaturdashi she left her body for Maha Samadhi after attaining self actualization and everybody addressed her as Brahmagya Mata Thakur. In this deed she shall be addressed with above mentioned name.
After the demise of Brahmajna Mata Thakur, an anonymous and benevolent person with Rs. 4000/- and 2nd no. trustee Shri Amril Lal Roy with Rs. 500/-was handed over to the party of First part and expressed the wishes to the first part that arrangements be made
1. To perform puja in the memory of Mother
2. To help the Tyagi Mumukhyas in attainment of self actualization.
With this objective the party of the first part bought land as per following schedule on 9th January 1935 from Shri Hakim Rai of District Santhal pargana, Sub Registry office Deoghar Maoga, Gharnas for an amount of Rs.335/- and got it registered on 10th January 1935, at Deoghar Sub Registry, established a math namely Nirban Math, arranged for puja ...... worship and bhajans."

History of Construction of Nirban Math
The Nirban Math campus consists of two adjoining building complexes - the Math and Shanti Ashram.
The Math complex consists of all the original ashram buildings and a more recently constructed Temple with a 'Nuut' Mandir. The grounds of the Math contains many very old trees, specially eucalyptus and mango. The ground staff has enhanced the grounds with many flora, fauna and vegetable patches, almost a mini-botanical garden. This complex has a 2-story house built with several rooms with adjoining bathrooms, for guests and staff.
The Shanti Ashram complex has one main 2-story residential style building. This is where Shri Dhiren Sen and his wife resided from 1950-1971 to look after the complex and maintain devotional practice dedicated to Brahmajna Ma. Many happy summer holidays were spent by the children and grand-children of Shri Dhiren Sen at this place, memories that live on to date.
